We are helping to host a Stock the Bar Party this weekend for a very special couple. I am very excited about it for three reasons: 1) I am in charge of decorations. 2) It means times with good friends. 3) It involves yummy food and cocktails.
So back to the decorations. Here is a sneak peek of some of the things I am working on.
I made the invitations using the website PicMonkey and had them printed through Mpix. I’m really happy with how they turned out. The paper Mpix uses is a nice, heavy cardstock. Also, they printed and shipped very quickly. I think I had them in hand about 3 days after I ordered them. Outstanding!
What’s a party without bunting or garland or some sort of fun hanging art? I based the decor of the party loosely on the colors and theme the couple chose for their wedding. The wedding theme is nautical using the colors navy and sunshine yellow. I chose to go with navy too, but threw some glittery gold in there to glam it up since it’s a cocktail party. I have had this nautical fabric (below) for a really long time. I used this fabric to make a runner and used it in the bunting, too. The other fabrics in the flag bunting are a navy and white pin stripe and an upholstery fabric that I found at JoAnn. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but it has a bit of a gold shimmer to it. Love!
I think it was my brother’s bedspread when he was a little boy. It’s a nice linen and I love the print. I almost used it for Owen’s third birthday party but decided to go in a different direction with the nautical theme. I’m glad I saved it because I think it’s perfect for this party.
I found navy and white straws at Target and gold tape for the little flags at Michael’s. The glittered jar is a Pinterest project win! I followed the tutorial found here at The Sweetest Occasion.
The last photo is another Pinterest win. This is a sign I made to go on the bar. I followed the technique for making glittery letters found in this tutorial on the elli blog. The party is tomorrow. I can’t wait!
