My Halloween Mantel

by Kimbrough

Summer is my favorite time of year. But, I get excited when Fall arrives because it means the start of the decorating season. There’s no other time of year when I decorate for three different holidays in such a short span of time. I start with Halloween decorations first, mixing in Fall decor, too. Then, after Halloween, I take down the “scary” things and add in more Fall decor. After Thanksgiving, all of the Fall stuff comes down to make way for Christmas!

Christmas is coming  soon y’all. Now, that’s scary!

You may recognize this wreath from previous posts. I decorate it for almost every party and holiday. For the past three years, I have hung it in our front hall. In fact, I hung it there when we moved in and have never moved it. Until now. I moved it into the family room and hung it on my old window on the mantel.

I think I really like having it there because I get to look at it more. We don’t really spend time hanging out in the hallway, but we spend a lot of time in our family room. I made that wreath for Owen’s first birthday. It has survived one move and three and a half years of  use.

I find it most fitting for a Halloween decoration because it’s made from the pages of the book Twilight! The black birds are from the Dollar Tree. The “Happy Halloween” is FREE (did you hear that?) hand drawn art from one of my favorite design blogs, Jones Design Company.

Last year, I added the bottles and cans to my Halloween scheme. Those, too, are FREE printables. You can find them here. I printed the labels and glued them with Mod Podge to the bottles. I spray painted some of the bottles black first. I also covered tin cans with black paper and glued labels to those. I love the look!

I rounded things out with black and white pumpkins, a bit of silver, a little moss and some Fall-ish plants. Some sprays are fake and some came from my yard.

I used my chalkboard bunting  to say, “Boo!”

I am really happy with how it all came together!
