The Carolina Cup: Part Two, #isawahorse

by Kimbrough

I am so happy to get this blog post out. It’s been about two weeks since my last post. April has been a doozy for me! In the past month, we have hosted two parties and I worked on an event for my son’s school band. We practically had something going on every weekend. Whew!

When I started this blog, I was worried that I wouldn’t have enough content. Right now my list of potential posts is long, but my time to write said posts is short. My goal is to post at least 2-3 times a week.

I Saw a Horse at the Carolina Cup!

This is the second post about the Carolina Cup. If you recall, the first post was about our table. At the end, I left you hanging about how we decided to remedy the horse situation. We not only provided a horse that people could see close up, we came up with a horse they could ride!

Here she is…

Harriett, the wooden horse! Since photobooths have become popular at weddings and parties, I thought that it would be fun to try to make one for the Cup. The wheels started turning and I thought that it would be even more fun if we could come up with a way to make a horse. Our first idea was just to get a saw horse and make some kind of head for it. Then, my friend, Beth said she could bring her saddle and Ali said she could bring a stick horse.

Well, after sharing this idea with my Dad, I needed not to worry. He is a master at woodworking. He can pretty much make anything. He’s made several beds for us. He also made our dresser, our dining room table, our tv stand and much more. I told him we needed a sawhorse and he came up with the sturdy structure you see above.

And the first rider was up!

Jackie and I took her for a spin. Woah, here!

It took us almost all day to convince people to get on it. But once word got it, the horse became pretty popular.
