Fauxjitos: Mojito-Like Mocktails

by Kimbrough

If you have been following my Insta-stories or reading my captions on social media, you know that I have been doing the Whole 30 program. In a nutshell, Whole 30 is about “cutting out unhealthy, hormone-unbalancing, gut-disrupting, inflammatory food groups for a full 30 days.” I saw it as a reset, a great way to start the new year.

Well, today is day 27. I feel like I have learned so much through this process. The most important thing I have learned is that I have willpower. I CAN stick to a plan.

It’s obvious that I enjoy cocktails. I also love wine and frequently turned to it as a way to “wind down.” It’s been freeing to learn other ways to relax. Deep breaths, certain yoga poses, calling a friend and making a fizzy mocktail have all become part of my new normal.

I haven’t really gotten fancy with mocktails. My go-to is simply club soda with lime. But, for Super Bowl Sunday, I don’t want to feel left out. I want fun drinks, too. So, I came up with this quick and easy Fauxjito. It’s like a Mojito, but without rum or sugar. This zingy mocktail just might become a regular in my house.
