Homemade Chai Hot Cocoa

Winter is the perfect time for this creamy, dreamy homemade Chai Hot Cocoa. Warm almond milk (or any plant based milk of your choice) whisked with cocoa powder, maple syrup and a blend of chai spices makes the tastiest winter beverage. Whip up this Chai spiced hot chocolate in minutes!

Ingredients

Chai Spice Blend

  • 3 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp black pepper (optional)

Chai Hot Cocoa

  • 4 cups Unsweetened Almond Milk (or other plant based milk)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tsp Chai spice blend
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2-3 TBSP maple syrup or raw sugar (to taste)

Instructions

  • Make Chai spice blend by whisking together the spices. Store in an airtight jar. (This makes a great gift!)
  • To make 4 cups of cocoa, combine ingredients in a medium saucepan. Whisk until smooth. Heat to a simmer over medium-low heat. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, whisking until all ingredients are incorporated. Serve immediately in mugs with (or without) whipped cream.
